OUR OCHS LIBRARY

Our beautiful LMC is a spacious facility with an art deco décor that features large solid oak doors, with stained glass windows and transoms, that were the main doors of Ocean City High School when it was built in 1923. We have computers available for individuals and classes, and many tables and chairs to accommodate several classes and many individuals at the same time. In addition to coming to the library with classes, students are welcome to use the library before school, between classes, during study hall periods and community lunch, and after school.

COLLECTION AND CIRCULATION

Our collection includes over 45,000 volumes, 120 magazines and newspapers, CDs, DVDs, videotapes, audio books and kits.  Some of our special collections are: books in French, Greek, Italian, Latin, and Spanish; short story collection books; New Jersey resources; children's books; professional materials (about teaching); and textbooks.

The OCHS Library has an online library catalog called Destiny.  It is available online at the URL: 10.0.7.105 (no www) and by using the Follett Destiny desktop icon on the main screen of a school computer when you are logged-on. Under the Home tab you will find links to all of our online databases for research. Destiny has a catalog special power search that enables you to search the OCHS Library catalog, the Internet and online databases (such as World Book Encyclopedia Online and EbscoHost database of periodical articles) all in one search. Try it!

A GREAT GIFT FOR THE PERSON WHO HAS EVERYTHING

Make a long lasting contribution to OCHS!

A gift to the OCHS Library Media Center is a long lasting gift that can be shared and enjoyed by many students and staff members.

Make a monetary donation and a new book, cd, DVD, or other item will be specially selected and purchased for our collection as a holiday gift, or to honor someone's achievement (such as graduation or retirement) or birthday, or in memory of a loved one.

A bookplate acknowledging the donor and identifying the occasion and recipient will be added to the library item. A thank you letter will be sent to the donor and a letter will also be sent to the recipient and/or his family to inform him/them about the special gift.
